Camp Fair State
September 8 @ 5:00 pm - September 10 @ 10:00 am$200 – $600
Fair State Brewing Cooperative is excited for the return of Camp Fair State, a summer camp for grown-ups.
In its second year, Camp Fair State is heading to the Northwoods at YMCA Camp Miller in Sturgeon Lake, MN. September 7-9th, campers will be immersed in a full-on summer camp experience. The all-inclusive weekend brings a complete itinerary of activities, education sessions, group meals, and Fair State beer.
Fair State is bringing an assortment of collaborators to help fill the weekend out. Rahr Malting Co will run a homebrew demo and dig into different mashing processes, while Duluth Coffee Co will do hands-on cupping and discuss roasting and brewing. There will be a wide range of programming from the St Croix River Association, Minnesota BBQ Company and James Winberg of Travail, Eat for Equity, YogaFit, and others.
The site, YMCA Camp Miller, is the sixth-oldest camp in the nation. It comes outfitted with cabins and all of the classic amenities, like a beach, archery range, canoes, hiking trails, and a field for Capture the Flag. Campers can also enjoy a climbing wall, sauna, disc golf, and mountain bike trails.
“We all have awesome memories of summer away at camp. It was about making friends, learning stuff, burning energy, and challenging yourself to something new. We can bask in these memories, or we can go do them, and I would just as soon go do them,” said Davin Haukebo-Bol, Fair State Co-op’s Membership Coordinator, and Director for Camp Fair State. “Just because we’re grown-ups doesn’t mean we can’t still run around and learn stuff. It just means we now get to do it with beer.”
The summer camp is a great opportunity for Fair State to stretch beyond the taproom walls, and to play around in a way that it doesn’t often do. Beertenders will step out from behind the bar to serve as camp counselors and lead the charge of frivolity.
