Award-winning local author to appear at Superior Public Library

July 30 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

FREE

Award-winning author James Brakken will present a free program about his latest book,
“Infamous: The Crimes of John Henry Seadlund” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at the Superior Public Library, 1530 Tower Ave., Superior.

Perfect for local history buffs and fans of true crime, the book tells the true story of Seadlund’s crime spree and the FBI’s investigation and pursuit from start to finish, using newspaper reports, FBI records and court documents from the era.

Johnny Seadlund was a good kid. A high school hockey star growing up in northern Minnesota, he graduated high school just as the nation entered the Great Depression. Unable to find work and desperate for money, a chance meeting with a member of John Dillinger’s gang led to an escalating spree of crimes throughout the Midwest. By 1937, Seadlund was Public Enemy #1 with J. Edgar Hoover and his team of FBI agents in hot pursuit across Minnesota, northern Wisconsin, and Illinois.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and to be signed by the author. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Library.
