Winds of 35-45 mph off Lake Superior, with gusts to 55 mph or higher, whipped through Canal Park on Thursday morning as a spring snowstorm approached the Northland. The National Weather Service forecast waves of 15-20 feet at times and cautioned people to stay off the Lakewalk and away from the shoreline. The flakes hadn’t started as of 9:30 a.m., but a foot or more of snow was expected later in the day, the Weather Service said. (Adelie Bergstrom / Duluth News Tribune /
