It’s winter at Wildwoods Wildlife Rehabilitation, but it’s not exactly the wildlife they find themselves looking after most often this time of year. The rehabilitation center is once again dealing with domestic ducks and geese that have been released into the wild, something these birds are not equipped to handle.

Wildwoods staff member Tara Smith says many people purchase domestic waterfowl when they’re small in the spring, but find themselved unprepared to care for these animals in the long term.
