24th Annual Empty Bowl Underway in Duluth

For the 24th year, folks are flocking to the Duluth Depot to fill soup bowls and stomachs at Empty Bowl, all to benefit Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.

But before the ladles were put to work, Monday was all about finding that perfect handmade bowl – and enjoying a little wine and cheese at a gallery-style preview. Northlanders packed the Depot to purchase a fine art bowl for $25-$100 at the Sea of Bowls event.

Come Tuesday, they’ll be able to fill those bowls with tasty soup free of charge. Bowls will also be available for $20 at the Empty Bowl event.

All proceeds go to Second Harvest, which provides food for more than 4.4 million meals annually throughout northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin.

Empty Bowl runs from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 at the Depot, located at 506 West Michigan Street in Duluth.
